Some notes on my vintage devices

I have some old devices lying around. Some of them have aged with me. Some I have found on Ebay.

Lenovo Laptops

Two T60s and a T440. I installed antiX on one of the T60s and on the T440. The other T60 has an original Windows XP installation running. Fortunately, it has a hardware switch to deactivate wi-fi.

3.5" Floppy Disks

Recently, I cleared out old boxes and found a little box of 3.5" floppy disks.

8 of 9 were still readable. Of one, my USB diskette drive said it wasn't formatted, so I guess that one was a victim to bit rot. Of the 8 readable ones, one was blank. I don't remember if it had any contents in the first place.

Kindle E-Book Readers

I loved my very first Kindle: It had a full QWERTY keyboard below the screen. But it's not responding any more, not even via USB. I have two younger ones, also without touchscreen. Very convenient. And then there is a newer broken one, backlit with touchscreen. I think I got it in 2019.

Citizen Electronic Organizers

One of them has a Russian keyboard. It doesn't ever do what I want it to do, but I still like it.
