Since October of 2014 I have helped deliver front-end & product solutions for clients as well as an internal company product. I also conduct client discovery sessions where I help businesses understand the problem they want to solve and the technology options available to them. Clear, honest communication regarding timelines and technology solutions has been pivotal to our success.

The precursor to my going back to school to study product and web development was working at Goldstar for two years to help them and their partners sell out live shows. I managed venue partner relationships in three territories. I learned the value of delivering a great experience to customers and the loyalty that breeds.

After starting out with a career in music,
I never thought I would end up writing software. But to be honest, a lot of what got me excited about performing on stage still gets me excited about deploying code. I was never the most technical instrumentalist, rather, I cared about the bandâ€™s â€œend userâ€ and how our â€œproductâ€ made them feel. I wanted to delight someone; perhaps make their lives a little bit better. I am by no means changing the world with my software writing skills, but I am solving problems. Thatâ€™s more than good enough.

I have been fortunate enough thus far to get to know and learn from some amazing people. Jeff Cohen, who taught me Ruby on Rails, is one of the best teachers Iâ€™ve ever had the pleasure of studying with. Even more than Ruby, heâ€™s mastered the art of presenting programming concepts in the friendliest of beginner friendly ways. Mig Reyes helped inform my design sense, challenged me to think in ways I had not thought of, and encouraged me to get over insecurity and just try some shit. Both of Starter Schoolâ€™s founders showed me what it means to hustle. The talented team at SeatGeek showed me the potential of creativity in coding and what it takes to manage a product at scale (spoiler: a lot of really hard work). And countless other teachers, TAs, and mentors helped mold my product sense and prepare me for solving meaningful problems for years to come.

I have been in awe of the aforementioned folks and aspire to do my thing half as well as they do theirs. In order to get there, I continue to focus on learning, challenging situations, and enthusiasm for whatever work I do.Helpful Human

Engineering Intern

As a summer intern in 2014, I worked across the stack on SeatGeek's user account system, Spotify integration, mobile app QA, and usability testing. I was able to touch PHP, Python, Javascript, and HTML/CSS code bases. I also gave design feedback and mocked new features and views. Managing large applications and services at scale isn't easy and requires a talented team to stay near the curve.

Back in the fall of 2013, I discovered a problem I had been experiencing where no solution existed and decided to put my recently acquired programming skills to use. I designed, developed, and launched a web application aiming at helping season ticket holders manage and share their tickets with friends more easily. I continue to work on this product today and hope to share my solution with more potential users in 2015. Shipping fast and often has proved its importance as I learn and drive the app's direction from user feedback.

I develop apps on the world wide web. I learned most of those skills from the fine folks at Starter School in Chicago, IL. I then spent a summer learning from the supremely talented team of hackers at SeatGeek in New York City (NEW YORK CITY??). I'm now a developer and product manager at Helpful Human in Seattle, WA. I'm also a huge fan of the city of Los Angeles where I studied and performed music for 6 years. I like to do things in different places.Chicago, IL
